SVG Ventures|THRIVE, a leading global agrifood innovation and investment platform, has announced the launch of the THRIVE Agrithon, an exciting new call to action aimed at tackling sustainability challenges in the agriculture industry. The event, which will be held in-person on July 9th & 10th, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, will bring together passionate teams of innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world to collaborate on addressing urgent sustainability issues facing the agriculture sector.

As part of the THRIVE Venture Studio, the competition will provide participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of agrifood technology and potentially walk out with a new venture. Teams of 2 to 4 individuals will have a 24-hour period to “hack” through a sustainability challenge before presenting their innovative ideas to a panel of industry experts. The competition is open to global participants, and applications will close on June 12th, 2023.

The goal of the THRIVE Agrithon is to uncover and develop novel venture opportunities and ideas that advance a more sustainable future for agriculture. Teams will have the opportunity to focus on one of four key focus areas: Soil Health & Biodiversity, Increasing Food Security & Waste Reduction, Reducing & Offsetting GHG Emissions, and Water Management and Quality.

“We are thrilled to launch the THRIVE Agrithon and provide an opportunity for innovators from around the world to come together and solve pressing sustainability challenges in the agriculture industry,” said John Hartnett, CEO of SVG Ventures|THRIVE. “The competition will provide participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of agrifood tech entrepreneurship and potentially launch a new venture. We can’t wait to see the innovative ideas that emerge from this competition.”

In addition to participating in the competition, attendees are also invited to register to attend the pitches, award ceremony, and reception. The THRIVE Agrithon promises to be an exciting event that brings together some of the brightest minds in the agrifood industry to create solutions that will make a positive impact on the world.
