SVG Ventures|THRIVE Announces Strategic Engagement with the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) to Advance Innovation in Plant Nutrition

Los Gatos, CA, March 14, 2025 – SVG Ventures|THRIVE, the leading global AgriFoodTech innovation and investment platform, is pleased to announce its strategic engagement with the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) to drive innovation in plant nutrition and sustainable agriculture. As part of this collaboration, IFA will join THRIVE as a Platinum Partner for the 2025 THRIVE Global Impact Challenge and Summit, furthering its commitment to supporting cutting-edge AgriFoodTech solutions.

IFA, the association representing the global fertilizer value chain, works to promote efficient and responsible plant nutrition solutions to support sustainable agricultural production and food security. With around 500 members in more than 80 countries, IFA plays a critical role in advancing innovations that enhance crop yields, improve soil health, and reduce environmental impact.

Through this engagement, IFA will launch its ‘Cultivate Challenge’ powered by THRIVE in Barcelona on April 1st to find innovative solutions across three key areas: energy efficiency in ammonia production, novel phosphate fertilizers and nutrient use efficiency tracking along the value chain. Startups interested in participating can register their interest here.

By partnering with THRIVE, IFA will gain access to a curated pipeline of high-impact startups focused on advancing plant nutrition and agricultural sustainability. THRIVE will facilitate targeted deal flow, startup introductions, and strategic programming including the opportunity for IFA to participate in THRIVE’s Industry Roundtables alongside other THRIVE corporate partners, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing on key challenges and innovations shaping the future of agriculture.

We are excited to partner with IFA to accelerate innovation in plant nutrition and sustainable agriculture,” said John Hartnett, Founder & CEO of SVG Ventures|THRIVE. “By combining IFA’s industry leadership with THRIVE’s global innovation ecosystem, we can accelerate the development and adoption of breakthrough solutions that enhance agricultural productivity, sustainability, and resilience in the face of global food security challenges

“Fertilizers are essential for feeding a growing global population, but their production and use have an impact on the environment. Addressing this challenge requires us to integrate innovation with sustainability to redefine food systems” said Alzbeta Klein, CEO and Director General of IFA. “This partnership represents an exciting next step in IFA and its members’ innovation journey. I am looking forward to collaborating with SVG Ventures|THRIVE to explore innovative plant nutrition solutions that have the potential to enhance the fertilizer value chain.”

This collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing sustainable solutions in plant nutrition and agriculture. By leveraging THRIVE’s global innovation platform and IFA’s industry expertise, the partnership will accelerate the development and adoption of breakthrough technologies that enhance agricultural productivity, soil health, and resilience to climate change.
