Tawny Scanlan is a Venture Associate at SVG Ventures | THRIVE, where she supports investment activity across the agricultural value chain for the Pioneer and Sunrise funds.

Tawny’s career sits at the intersection of planetary and human health. Most recently, she led venture operations for Food and Health Angels, an angel network investing in innovations across nutrition, biology, and technology. Prior to that, she spent more than five years at FTW Ventures, where she led the firm’s life science investment strategy and managed the investment lifecycle from deal sourcing and due diligence to portfolio support, contributing to eight investments across agriculture, biotechnology, and materials sciences.

Tawny earned a B.S. in Animal Biology, with a minor in Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity, from the University of California, Davis. She also completed doctoral studies in Animal Biology, with a Designated Emphasis in Reproductive Biology, at UC Davis, completing all PhD coursework and qualifying requirements before transitioning her career to venture capital and startup operations.
